Armando Paz, the visionary founder of The Paz Foundation, was born in Havana, Cuba, and has dedicated his life to uplifting communities, empowering families, and giving hope to children across the world. Born with a cleft lip and palate, Armando experienced firsthand the physical and emotional challenges that come with such a condition. His journey of overcoming adversity has shaped his mission to provide help and guidance to children and families who are hesitant or fearful about undergoing corrective surgery. Through The Paz Foundation, Armando offers not only resources but also personal mentorship, driven by the belief that every child deserves to smile without fear or shame.
Armando’s story is one of resilience, forged through personal battles and his relentless pursuit of excellence. At the age of 5, he began practicing Karate, a discipline that became a guiding force in his life. His dedication and passion for martial arts led him to compete both locally and internationally, ultimately earning him a place on TEAM USA. Representing his country, Armando competed at the Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and later at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. His success in Karate reflects not only his competitive spirit but his unwavering belief in perseverance, discipline, and the power of hard work.
Armando’s passion for philanthropy blossomed during his travels across the globe. In each country he visited, he made time to connect with underprivileged communities, offering food, shelter, and compassion to children and families in desperate need. It was during these solitary acts of kindness that the seeds of The Paz Foundation were sown.
